Ricci was initially recognized and celebrated as a young performer, with her appearances as Wednesday Addams on The Addams Family (1991) as well as Addams Family Values (2000) and Kat Harvey as seen in Casper (1995). Ricci was able to transition into more adult-friendly roles with The Ice Storm (1997) followed by an acclaimed scene on The Opposite of Sex (1998) and was honored with a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress.
